Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Hugh Todd, joined Foreign Ministers from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for a virtual meeting with US Secretary of State, Mr. Antony J. Blinken.
The meeting’s agenda included discussions on the United States’ commitment to collaborating with CARICOM to advance bilateral and regional interests, including plans to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, promote regional economic recovery, cooperation on increasing climate resilience, and continued collaborations on strengthening security, democratic values, and human rights.
Foreign ministers from Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Haiti, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago participated in the event, along with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Guyana’s Foreign Secretary, Mr. Robert Persaud and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Ms. Elisabeth Harper also attended the meeting.
