President Irfaan Ali today announced that livestock farmers, who were affected by the April to June floods, will benefit from over $600M in support from the Government.
Though the President did not break down the funds for individual farmers, he announced that it will be categorised and will focus on the more than 2000 farmers who were affected.
These were divided into subsistence farmers, small-scale farmers, medium-scale farmers, and large-scale farmers.
In addition to these direct transfers, the Ministry of Agriculture and Guyana Livestock Development Authority will be assisting through genetic improvements, drainage and irrigation works, technical support, and extension services to the approximate value of $500M.
