His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali told corporations from the European Union that Guyana is strategically placed to grow and expand their businesses, due to its proximity, reach and drive.
The Head of State made the statement today while highlighting Guyana’s economic growth, the business opportunities available and the country’s current development trajectory during the opening ceremony of the inaugural European Union’s Global Gateway Economic Mission to Guyana at the Marriott Hotel.
He told the business representatives that once they invest in Guyana, they will have an opportunity to “be part of one of the most sustainable, resilient and comprehensive stories of development that will evolve in a world 2030 and beyond, a story that will position a small developing country into a mighty position of leadership on climate, food, and energy. A position that will see a small developing country becoming one of the most aggressive, modern, scientifically driven, bedded on research and development; while providing services in education, health care, ecological services, biodiversity services, and of course, the building out of a pharmaceutical industry that will be positioning itself to serve this market.”
The two-day mission has attracted approximately two dozen companies from more than 10 different European countries.
Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, the Honourable Dr Ashni Singh, Minister of Foreign Affairs the Honourable Hugh Todd, a number of other Government ministers; EU’s Ambassador to Guyana, HE René van Nes and other officials were also at the opening ceremony of the mission.
