Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond, says her ministry is keen on creating the enabling environment for the private sector to build capacity to sustainably compete in the export market. The minister was at the time, giving remarks at a meeting of the National Advisory Committee on External Negotiations (NACEN), at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on Monday.
Minister Walrond noted that the government continues to develop strategies to address significant fundamental issues including access to affordable financing, cheap and reliable electricity and building human resource capacity.
Foreign Secretary, Robert Persaud, gave the Opening Remarks at the meeting. He said the Government is committed to ensuring that the Foreign Trade Policy is executed comprehensively for the benefit of all stakeholders.
NACEN was established in 1997 and serves as the main consultative body to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the conduct of external negotiations and the Foreign Trade Policy Programme.
